Williams releases images of new car
23 January 2014 – Williams has published a rendered image of its latest Formula 1 challenger, the FW36. As anticipated, the design features a dramatic 'anteater nose' brought on by the technical regulation overhaul.
Although not the first team to showcase its 2014 car, with rivals Force India releasing a side profile picture on Wednesday, Williams has given the first true insight into the overall make-up of this year's machines.
In addition to a modified nose area, tighter sidepods and the mandatory central tailpipe section – introduced to stop teams exploiting exhaust gases – are visible, while the lower beam wing is no longer present at the rear.
The image is of the car's launch-specification package, with an upgrade planned for the opening race.
Williams has confirmed that it will debut the machine at the opening pre-season test of the year at the Circuito de Jerez, fielding Valtteri Bottas on the first two days before new driver Felipe Massa takes to the wheel.
