Red Bull confirms modified Newey deal
8 June 2014 – Adrian Newey has ended speculation about his future by signing a new "multi-year agreement" with Red Bull, although he will step back from his day-to-day involvement in the team's Formula 1 operation.
Newey, who joined the Milton Keynes-based outfit from McLaren prior to the 2006 season, had been linked to Ferrari in recent weeks, with the Italian marque undergoing changes in a bid to return to winning ways.
Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Newey verbally pledged his immediate future to Red Bull, winner of the past four Drivers' and Teams' titles, but it has now been confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a modified deal.
The agreement will see him cut loose from the Formula 1 team and switch his focus to other projects.
"Adrian will work on new Red Bull Technology projects, as well as advising and mentoring Infiniti Red Bull Racing as it develops its Formula 1 cars over the next few seasons," read a statement issued by the team.
The team added that further details about new projects "will be announced in due course."
