Kvyat: We put things together like a puzzle
21 June 2014 – Daniil Kvyat says efficient team work was the key behind him securing a personal best qualifying result at the Red Bull Ring.
Having shone in practice, the Toro Rosso rookie went on to reach the final shootout for the third time, where he claimed seventh on the grid.
"This was my best qualifying result so far this season and I'm satisfied with the work the team has done all weekend," Kvyat explained.
"We managed to put all the things together like a puzzle and we made a significant step forward from [free practice] yesterday to today."
Kvyat reckons he could have placed higher had it not been for yellow flags, brought out by Lewis Hamilton.
"It was a shame that the yellow flags in Turn 2 meant we couldn't exploit the full potential of the car," he said. "But still, P7 is good. I really enjoy this circuit and I hope we can have a strong race in front of the Red Bull family."
Kvyat's team-mate, Jean-Éric Vergne, was eliminated from the second qualifying phase and will start 14th.
