Verstappen set for 15-place grid penalty
21 October 2017 – Red Bull's Max Verstappen is set to receive a 15-place grid penalty after taking on new power unit components at the United States Grand Prix.
Red Bull has fitted a new Internal Combustion Engine and MGU-H to his RB13, the sixth version of both components this season.
As a result, he has been handed a 10- and five-place grid penalty, meaning he will drop 15 places from wherever he qualifies on Saturday afternoon at the Circuit of the Americas.
The changes were planned, with Red Bull having notified Technical Delegate Jo Bauer of its intentions on October 13, a week in advance of the event.
Stoffel Vandoorne (five places), Nico Hülkenberg (20 places) and Brendon Hartley (25 places) also head into qualifying with a grid drop, due to power unit changes.
