F1 to present new logo after Abu Dhabi race
24 November 2017 – Formula 1 Chairman and CEO Chase Carey has confirmed that the sport will introduce a new logo after Sunday's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Liberty Media has carried out several changes to Formula 1 in the wake of its full takeover at the start of the year, with the latest step being the introduction of a new logo.
Potential new logos circulated online after being trademarked for potential use, though it is not known whether any of the mooted options will be selected.
"Any time you change something you're always going to have a mixed set of views," Carey told Sky Sports, explaining the move.
"What we wanted to do was provide a fresh energy to the sport, and I think we've got a lot of plans for the future and a lot of things that we want to do.
"We thought the logo was a good way to emphasise the excitement, a fresh energy and the chance to take the sport to a new place.
"That's respecting completely what the sport has been, we're not looking to change the sport, we're looking to bring a fresh innovation and energy into a sport that is a great sport.
"We think that we can enhance it in a number of ways.
"[We can] make it better for the fans to engage and connect in ways that they haven't had the opportunity to in the past around events that truly are the spectacles that they should be."
The new logo is set to be presented to the world following the conclusion to the 55-lap race on Sunday.
