Massa takes on FIA role as karting chief
9 December 2017 – Felipe Massa has been appointed as the President of the CIK/International Karting Commission, following the annual meeting of the FIA's General Assembly.
Massa retired from Formula 1 following last month's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, bringing down the curtain on a 15-year career, which yielded 11 wins and the runner-up spot in 2008.
During the annual gathering of the General Assembly in Paris, Massa's new role as the head of the karting division was confirmed.
Elsewhere, Stefano Domenicali will continue to spearhead the Single-Seater Commission, having taken a step towards streamlining the Formula 2/3/4 ladder with the rebranding of GP2 as F2 this year.
The Assembly also approved the creation of an FIA Innovation Fund, which will be created using the proceeds from the sale of the governing body's one per cent equity in Formula 1.
