Zanella aims for top eight at Brands
1 September 2010 – Having made his Formula 3 Euro Series comeback at the Nürburgring on the first full weekend of August, Christopher Zanella is looking for a strong Race 1 result in order to benefit from the reversed grid situation for Race 2 as the championship makes it way to Brands Hatch this weekend.
“I'm contesting the Italian F3 Championship this year and am driving a Mygale there – that chassis requires a completely different style of driving to the Dallara I'm racing in the Euro Series,” the 20-year-old explains
“With the Dallara, you have to drive relatively slow at the apex of a corner to have the chance of accelerating again as soon as possible; therefore you have to brake earlier for a corner than with the Mygale and that was something I have had to re-accustom to, particularly as I hadn't had the chance of testing the car prior to my first race at the Nürburgring.”
“Last year the Brands Hatch weekend turned out to be a rather positive one for me,” he continued. “I finished fifth in the first race and hope that it will once again be a good weekend for me. It's my goal to make it to the top eight in Race 1 to then benefit from the reversed grid format and secure a good result on Sunday.
“Following the race weekends at the Nürburgring and Zandvoort, I realised that I'm accustoming better and better to the car and enjoy driving it again.”
