DeFrancesco gets 2018 F3 seat with Carlin
8 December 2017 – Devlin DeFrancesco will step up to the European Formula 3 championship full-time with Carlin in 2018, the British team confirmed on Friday.
DeFrancesco, 17, raced for Carlin in British F4 in 2016, and remained with the outfit this year in Euroformula Open, coming third in the category.
The Canadian competed in the final two rounds of 2017 with Carlin and will now graduate to European F3 full-time in 2018.
"We are delighted to be able to announce Devlin as our first F3 driver for the 2018 season," said team boss Trevor Carlin.
"He has been part of the team for three years now; starting in the Academy before racing in British Formula 4 and Euroformula Open so we've really watched him mature and grow into the racer he's become today.
"He's already a proven race winner in both those championships and we know that he has the potential to be competitive in F3 and is already making some great progress in testing."
Carlin guided McLaren-backed Lando Norris to the 2017 F3 title.
