Frijns retains Hilmer drive for Barcelona
8 May 2013 – Robin Frijns has retained his place on the GP2 grid for the upcoming Barcelona round, with the Sauber test and reserve driver extending his stay at Hilmer Motorsport.
Frijns, the reigning Formula Renault 3.5 Champion, made his GP2 Series debut in Bahrain after Conor Daly's one-off outing at Sepang. The Dutchman impressed in qualifying by setting the tenth fastest time, although a Feature Race collision led to a drive-through penalty and scuppered his chances for the remainder of the weekend.
Frijns has not yet confirmed his place at Hilmer beyond this weekend's event at the Circuit de Catalunya, with negotiations likely to continue on a race-by-race basis.
