Bird tops practice at the Hungaroring
26 July 2013 – Sam Bird set the fastest time during GP2 practice at the Hungaroring on Friday. The Russian Time driver's best effort of 1:29.408 put him three tenths clear of the field.
Sergio Canamasas wound up second for Caterham Racing, with Bird's team-mate, Tom Dillmann, in third. ART's James Calado finished fourth on the timesheets, despite ending his session after just seven laps when he spun out and stalled.
Championship leader Stefano Coletti could place no higher than 15th, while main title rival Felipe Nasr failed to post a time after spinning on his opening lap of the day.
Adrian Quaife-Hobbs began his new phase with Hilmer Motorsport in 19th position, while Dani Clos, making his first outing in the series since 2011, wound up 22nd.
