De Vries, Delétraz swap seats in Formula 2
23 August 2017 – McLaren young driver Nyck de Vries has switched from Rapax to Racing Engineering from the upcoming Formula 2 round at Spa-Francorchamps, with Louis Delétraz moving in the other direction.
De Vries stepped up to Formula 2 with Rapax this season and holds eighth in the standings, having taken victory in Monaco.
Delétraz, meanwhile, has scored just a single point, following a troubled run, having finished as runner-up in last year's Formula V8 3.5 championship.
Additionally, former Manor Marussia F1 driver Roberto Merhi will fill in for Sergio Canamasas at Rapax, due to family issues for the latter.
Merhi previously competed in Formula 2 for Campos at the Barcelona round.
On his switch, de Vries said: "Perhaps this move is a surprise in the middle of the season, but I am very excited to join Racing Engineering from Spa onwards.
"We have been in touch since 2015 and it is great to finally get the chance to work together as they have a very high level of professionalism and a great track record.
"I hope we will be able to turn around their momentum and score the successes they have always had."
