24 November 2017 – Artem Markelov controlled qualifying for the Formula 2 Feature Race at Yas Marina, taking pole position – his first – for Russian Time's swansong.
Markelov headed proceedings during both runs beneath the lights in Abu Dhabi as he clocked a lap of 1:47.181 to collect pole position.
It marked his first in four years of competing at this level, and gives Russian Time its first pole of the campaign, having not led a qualifying since 2013.
Markelov's lap was two-tenths of a second clear of Racing Engineering's Nyck de Vries, as Antonio Fuoco was unusually the lead Prema driver in third spot.
Oliver Rowland (DAMS) and Norman Nato (Arden) were next up, as champion Charles Leclerc had a low-key run to sixth position.
As a result, Leclerc missed out on the outright GP2/F2 pole record.
Luca Ghiotto took seventh, as Nobuharu Matsushita, Sérgio Sette Câmara and practice pace-setter Alexander Albon completed the top 10.
McLaren protégé Lando Norris took 14th for his debut, with former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi quicker only than Nabil Jeffri.
Saturday's 31-lap Feature Race will begin at 18:40 local time
