Lotus confirms D&R, Herta and HVM for 2012
18 November 2011 – New IndyCar engine supplier Lotus Motorsport has confirmed that it has struck deals with Dreyer & Reinbold, Bryan Herta Autosport and HVM Racing for the 2012 season. The announcement came at the Los Angeles Auto Show, meaning all three teams will be using the new V6 twin turbo Lotus unit next year.
“Exactly 12 months on, we are here with an all-new Lotus engine and three teams, ready to go,” says Miodrag Kotur, Director of Motorsports Operations at Group Lotus. “The numbers that the engine is already achieving in our dyno testing are extremely encouraging, so our hard work is well and truly paying off.
“These partnerships with Bryan Herta Autosport, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and HVM Racing mean a great deal to Lotus Motorsport and mark the start of a new chapter for Lotus in the IndyCar Series. We’re thrilled that these already successful and illustrious teams have chosen Lotus, as we believe that our capabilities as a partner will pay dividends for them in the future.”
This year, all IndyCar teams have been provided with Honda powerplants, although both Lotus and Chevrolet are joining the fray for the 2012 campaign.
