González set for IndyCar debut with Coyne
23 April 2015 – Ex-Formula 1 test driver Rodolfo González will make his IndyCar debut with Dale Coyne Racing at this weekend's Barber Motorsports Park event.
The Venezuelan, 28, tested IndyCar machinery with Dale Coyne and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports over the off-season, but is yet to race in the series.
He will take over Coyne's #18 machine, which has already been driven by Carlos Huertas, Rocky Moran Jr. and Conor Daly in a bizarre sequence of events.
Moran Jr. replaced Huertas for the second round of the season at Long Beach, but he broke his thumb in a Friday practice accident, leading to Daly's call up.
González has now been given the nod to drive the car at Barber, while Francesco Dracone is preparing to make his fourth consecutive start in the #19 entry.
González contested four GP2 seasons from 2009 to 2012, scoring points on three occasions, before making eight F1 practice appearances with Marussia in 2013.
