Filippi completes St. Petersburg grid
9 March 2016 – Luca Filippi has completed the field for IndyCar's season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, after penning a deal to drive the Honda-powered #19 Dale Coyne Racing entry.
Filippi, who has made 18 IndyCar starts over the past three seasons, including a best finish of second with CFH Racing at Toronto last year, will partner Conor Daly at the team.
Filippi joined Dale Coyne for recent tests at Phoenix and Sebring.
"I think that with myself and Conor we have a good combination and I think we could really get strong results," commented Italian racer Filippi, as he previewed this weekend's event.
"For me personally, I'm more of a street course specialist. I feel like on every street course we go to it can be a good weekend all the time, so I'm obviously aiming for a solid result.
"It would be good to start the season scoring some good points."
Dale Coyne has indicated that the current plan is to run Filippi alongside Daly for the full 2016 campaign, though the team is yet to confirm his deal beyond St. Petersburg.
