Aoyama set for return, to race in Germany?
10 July 2013 – Hiroshi Aoyama is hoping to compete in the MotoGP event at the Sachsenring in Germany this weekend, after missing the two previous rounds due to injury.
Aoyama crashed on the Saturday in Barcelona, sustaining injuries to his left hand. His hand has since been operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir, with two fingers having been reconstructed, while the tip of his ring finger was amputated.
“I am delighted that Dr. Mir has given me permission to travel to Germany to participate in the Grand Prix,” the Avintia Blusens man told MotoGP’s official website. “I realise that we won’t know exactly how I am until I climb on the bike and get going, but it means a lot just to be going there.
“The time I have had since the operation has allowed me to fully recover from injuries received in previous accidents; now we just need to keep an eye on the hand injuries and see how much they are going to limit me but, either way, I am very happy to be able to get back on my bike.”
Aoyama will now need to pass a fitness test at the Sachsenring before he is allowed to compete.
