Rins gets green light for Assen comeback
21 June 2017 – Suzuki has confirmed that Álex Rins will return to racing at this weekend's Dutch TT.
Rins stepped up to the premier class with the manufacturer for 2017 but fell during practice at the Circuit of the Americas, sustaining fractures to his arm and wrist.
The injuries forced Rins to miss five races but he returned to competitive action during last week's group test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Suzuki has now given Rins the green light to resume his rookie campaign at Assen.
"The recovery from injury has been long and tough, but finally I will re-join the team and again be able to race my GSX-RR," said Rins.
"I can't wait to get back to the feeling of racing and be reunited with my team again.
"Last week we tested in Barcelona and my feelings were positive.
"I'm recovering well and made a lot of progress. We worked without any pressure, but yet we were able to make improvements.
"Assen is a magical circuit; I can't wait to ride there on a MotoGP machine."
Rins holds 21st in the standings, having captured ninth place on his debut in Qatar.
