Redding tops wet third session at Assen
24 June 2017 – Pramac's Scott Redding clocked the quickest time during a rain-hit third practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen.
After Friday's sessions took place in dry weather, overnight rain left the circuit drenched, and riders used Wet tyres throughout the 45-minute session, as rain continued to fall.
Redding set a best time of 1:46.441 aboard the 2016-spec Ducati Desmosedici to finish 0.231s clear of Yamaha's Valentino Rossi, while reigning World Champion Marc Márquez was third.
Title leader Maverick Viñales, fastest in Friday's dry conditions, claimed fourth spot, ahead of Tech 3's Johann Zarco and Avintia's Héctor Barberá.
Aprilia's Aleix Espargaró finished seventh, with Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati), Loris Baz (Avintia) and Andrea Iannone (Suzuki) rounding out the top 10.
Baz was one of two fallers in the session, crashing at Turn 3, along with LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow, who hit the deck at Turn 8.
Saturday's qualifying session will begin at 14:10 local time
