Siméon signs for Avintia, completes '18 grid
21 September 2017 – Moto2 race winner Xavier Siméon will make the step up to MotoGP next season, joining Avintia on a two-year deal, in a move that completes the 2018 grid.
Belgian racer Siméon, 28, is contesting his eighth Moto2 campaign, with two pole positions, four podium finishes and one victory on his CV.
Simeon takes Héctor Barberá's place at Avintia, following the Spaniard's return to the Moto2 class with Pons, and will team up with Tito Rabat, who will switch from Marc VDS.
"It's a fantastic opportunity and I've been working hard to get it for many years," said Siméon.
"I'm so happy to make this dream a reality; a dream I've been pursuing since I was a child. Day after day, I've done everything I could to get here.
"I won my Superstock title with Ducati and I'm very happy to be back with the marque at Reale Avintia Racing. I want to try the bike.
"I'd like to thank my sponsors and my fans for having believed in me and for all their support they're giving me in this new challenge."
