Celis Jr. stays in FV8 3.5 with Fortec
6 January 2017 – Force India development driver Alfonso Celis Jr. will remain in the Formula V8 3.5 championship with Fortec Motorsports through 2017, the junior team has announced.
Mexico's Celis Jr. has raced in the category for the past two seasons, representing AVF; he classified 16th in 2015, and 11th in 2016, while team-mate Tom Dillmann claimed the title.
Fortec fielded Celis Jr. in Formula Renault 2.0, British F3 and European F3.
"I am so happy to be re-joining Fortec Motorsports; they were my number one team choice and I look forward to sharing great success with them next season," said the 20-year-old.
Celis Jr. was given six free practice outings with Force India last season, along with track time during testing, and recently stated his intention to challenge for a race seat for 2018.
